World First are looking for an established Web Developer with 2+ year's commercial experience to take a key role in the development of our client facing online foreign exchange trading application. This is an exciting opportunity to join an 8 person strong department at a fast growing company in the heart of London.
Responsibilities:
Assisting in the development of our client facing online foreign exchange trading application.
This includes:
o Leading the design and subsequent development of application components from both a front-end and back-end perspective.
o Taking ownership of large portions of the existing application and managing ongoing improvement and enhancement of these sections to meet business needs.
o Writing documentation for the portions of the application you are responsible for.
o Identifying potential areas of risk and suggesting mitigating actions.
o Assisting in the planning and estimation of the development team's work.
Essential skills:
Expert knowledge of:
o (X)HTML
o CSS (including CSS3)
o Object Oriented JavaScript including the use of AJAX techniques
o Object Oriented PHP5
o Cross browser compatibility and accessibility
Good working knowledge of:
o MVC frameworks, especially Zend
o MySQL
o Adobe Photoshop
o Usability
o Code repositories (e.g. SVN)
o Bug tracking tools (e.g. Trac)
Basic working knowledge of:
o Window and Unix CLI
Essential experience:
Ability to work within a pre-existing team.
Extensive experience of web application development.
An ability to rapidly and effectively understand and translate business requirements into technical solutions
Proven skill in developing and managing maintainable code-bases
Knowledge and experience of accessibility, usability and cross-browser issues
Experience of working in an environment where products have to be delivered to specific time-scales
Self-motivated with good organisational skills in order to work to challenging deadlines
Experience of supporting, modifying and maintaining systems and code which was developed by others
Other Requirements:
1. UK/EU citizen or other visa with work permit (>1year) in the UK. Please do not apply if you do not have this. We cannot make exceptions.
2. Excellent numeracy and literacy and good spoken English
3. Must be available to start working in our office in London within a month of accepting the role.
4. Applicants should provide 3 representative URLs of recent projects on which they were significantly involved accompanied by a description of their involvement.
